This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones DecorPatch sets, why we set them, and how you control them. It forms part of our Privacy Policy.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies – localStorage, pixels and software development kits – do a comparable job and are covered by the same terms here.

Categories we use

  • Strictly necessary – keep the site working: the session cookie that lets a logged-in editor reach the administration, security cookies that protect our comment and contact forms, and the cookie that remembers whether you accepted or rejected advertising cookies. These cannot be switched off, because the site would not function without them.
  • Performance and analytics – tell us which repair guides are read, where readers came from, and which pages lose people, so we know what to test next. The data is aggregated; we do not build a profile of you as an individual.
  • Functional – remember choices such as newsletter opt-in state, comment-form details so you do not retype your name, and display preferences.
  • Advertising and targeting – set by our ad partners to serve relevant ads, limit how often you see the same one and measure campaigns. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom these load only after you consent through our cookie banner; elsewhere they may operate on a legitimate-interest basis with an opt-out available.

First-party and third-party cookies

First-party cookies come from decorpatch.com. Third-party cookies are set by services we embed – ad networks, analytics, social platforms and video players – and their lifetimes are governed by those providers rather than by us.

How long cookies last

Session cookies disappear when you close your browser. Persistent cookies used for preferences and measurement typically live between 30 days and 13 months; advertising identifiers may be refreshed by the vendor within the limits of its own policy.

Controlling cookies

  • Use the cookie banner on any page to accept, reject or customise non-essential categories. Your choice is stored and honoured on later visits.
  • Change your browser settings to block or delete cookies (Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge all document the steps).
  • Opt out of interest-based advertising through the industry pages linked from the Privacy Policy and through each ad network’s own settings.
  • Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent sign-in, comments and other functions.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We honour the Global Privacy Control signal where our tooling supports it: a visitor who sends GPC is treated as having opted out of sharing personal information for advertising purposes.

Updates

We review this policy whenever we add a service that stores or reads information on your device, and update the revision date below. Questions: [email protected].
